Yellowbrick V3 MKII for Corporate and Professional use – the solution for fleet tracking is called… RockSTAR
G-layer are pleased to introduce to Australian customers the new RockSTAR devices.
Today’s fleet operators realise how vital a good asset management system is for productivity in the field, and for the security and safety of personnel and equipment. This is where our brand new product the RockSTAR comes in. Only just released, the RockSTAR is the corporate and professional version of our proven YellowBrick satellite tracker and communicator device.
The RockSTAR, like our YellowBricks, is a GPS tracking device, based on Iridium, offering the most comprehensive and affordable solution for fleet tracking and solo workers.
Thanks to the Yellowbrick’s reliability as a tracker and messenger, with customisable messages and advanced BT connectivity, it’s certainly the lone worker’s best mate. Reliable and dependable, the RockSTAR builds on the success of our Yellowbrick V3 MKII, it has the same unbeatable battery life and rugged construction, to which we have added a number bells and whistles.

Based on the hardware of the YellowBrick, the RockSTAR also includes an advanced interface for fleet control.
This interface is known as the Admin Centre and provides various options for fleet control, all on the one screen.
Extra features available to RockSTAR buyers include:

Australia has one of the longest coastlines of any country in the world, so it’s hardly surprising at the extent of boat ownership we have, not only for pleasure but for business and commercial use too.
When boaties are equipping their vessels for a long voyage, coastal cruising or even day trips on the tinny or jetski – there are some common requests we often get – How can I stay in touch with the folks back home? How do they know where I am, day to day or minute to minute… What if the worst happens – who will know my last known position?
This of course is where the Yellowbrick is on its home ground, having been specifically developed for marine applications, it will happily update its position to a website from anywhere on land or sea, at whatever interval you like (from 1 minute to 12 hours). Not only position reporting but text messaging is available to AND from the device (in email or sms format) at the cost of one credit per 50 characters.
This is not just cost saving, but life changing for the vessel owner / operator who has simply not had these options available with earlier tracking systems.
Although there are some budget trackers out there, none of them have the guaranteed coverage and the two-way messaging abilities at the reasonable cost of ownership that Yellowbrick brings to the scene, let alone the proven reliability. That is a very important distinction, and why we are so proud of these tough little units.
GPS tracking devices – Yellowbrick pole-to-pole coverage
Another thing we are often asked by long distance sailors is coverage black spots – Aussies are so used to the patchy network coverage around this huge country that our customers often can’t believe that the Yellowbricks simply never go out of range. As long as they can see the sky they will go on communicating and sending positions back home. From the remote Kimberleys to outside the Great Barrier Reef, coverage is always there.
The Yellowbrick is, in essence, a personal GPS satellite tracking device, that with its mil-spec toughness is more than at home in the nautical world. Available right now in the G-layer shop.
Yellowbrick marine tracking device – With Maggie Drum across the Indian Ocean
The best marine tracking device, for the trip of the lifetime. From Ballina, all the way to the Mediterranean.
Duncan and Caroline called the G-layer few months ago, they heard we were the guys who can keep them connected during their long journey to the Med.
Duncan is an amateur radio operator, and he immediately saw the value in our Yellowbrick GPS tracker. At their request we visited them in Alstonville NSW and demonstrated why Yellowbrick V3 is the tracker of choice for yacht owners and for many other marine applications.
Duncan and Caroline’s sailing yacht The Maggie Drum, is now north of Moreton Island, entering the Coral sea. Soon she’ll be out of any GSM network but their Yellowbrick will never run out of coverage.
Their position will be visible on their Yblog during their entire journey, their family and friends will be able to follow their progress and see where they are at all times.
Tracking Devices for helicopters and small aeroplanes is one problem G-layer has been trying to solve for the past decade.
Our communications consulting work frequently takes us to remote areas such as the Amazon, Indonesia, the Himalayas, the North Pole, Antartica and the vast oceans. Closer to home, we grab any opportunity to work in the Australian outback, with its rugged terrain, its beautiful sunsets and its hidden dangers.
In the endless open waters, the isolated polar regions or the highest mountain peaks, danger is always around the corner and, in an emergency, first responders can be days away. Aircraft are often the only transport option in these areas
Think of the Amazon rainforest. It covers an area four fifths the size of Australia: humidity, dust and impenetrable jungle in every direction. It’s easy to see how a survivable aeroplane accident can quickly become fatal if help does not come fast, but Yellowbrick has the solution.
The perfect aircraft Tracking Device!
Yellowbrick tracking systems are the perfect location technology for small areoplanes and helicopters.
They can report the aircraft’s position on a website as often as every forty seconds with extreme precision and reliability.
Yellowbrick can also be used as a messenger to receive weather reports and important updates from ground crew. In exchange, the pilot can communicate fuel figures and flight progress. Messages can be pre-set or sent using IOS and Android devices.
G-Layer brings affordable and reliable tracking and communication devices to the world of general aviation and small aircraft owners. We have tested Yellowbrick systems on Cessna Caravans, float -planes, jet aeroplanes and helicopters, both large and small.
Yellowbrick V3 does not require permanent installation and will work up to Mach 2.0 at a maximum ceiling of 52,000 feet. Try doing the same with one of our competitors!

How much of our beautiful country have you seen? Have you ever wanted to explore more?
Travelling in our own land is not something that can be taken lightly. As thousands of caravaners, off-roaders and grey nomads will verify, Australia is a vast country and unfortunately only partially covered by the GSM terrestrial network.
One of the reasons G-layer decided to import and resell Yellowbricks here, was to offer travellers an alternative to cheap and unreliable trackers. Our products greatly outperform the competition at an affordable price, and we believe they are the best choice if you want value for money.
Yellowbrick V3, is not only an extremely reliable satellite tracking device, but it’s also a two-way messenger, capable of pairing with iOS and Android enabled devices for advanced messaging features.
Thanks to the Iridium network, Yellowbrick can be used to send and receive SMS and emails, and even make social media updates on the go! There is reliable coverage throughout the whole of Australia, and of course the rest of the world from pole to pole.
Exploring Australia can take months, or even years. Let your loved ones know where you are. Let them know you’re ok and you’re having a great time (or an awesome time). Let them be able to reach you, wherever you are.
Our Yellowbrick is build on military specifications for the real world and it will never let you down. It comes with an extended battery life and a huge range of optional accessories for your vehicle.
Members of Explore OZ can have the added benefit of reporting their positions through the site EOTrackMe.
So when you’re travelling in the outback you can let other caravaners and 4WD adventurers know where you’re going and where you’ve been.
You can buy our trackers with the confidence they will keep performing year after year.
Call now or drop us an email, and our friendly staff will be happy to help you choose which model of Yellowbrick suits your needs.
This month is a very exciting development for G-Layer, as we are proud to be part of a media expedition to the real North Pole: 90° N!
To support this daunting journey, we have provided expertise and equipment for the entire expedition, including custom made winterised components.
We are very pleased that all our gear performed as expected, even in the screaming wind and -35° C temperatures, but the star performer again was the Yellowbrick mark IIs we took with us.
At some times on the trip, even some of the satphones were frozen solid, but the Yellowbricks just never stopped working, getting positions and data out to the base team for the entire trip.
The YB3s provided live position reporting, and two-way messaging while we were ski-trekking toward the pole.
In fact, they were the only communication device usable with heavy gloves which are essential at -35°C.
For G-layer the North Pole Expedition was a first – it was a great experience into the wilds of the Arctic, and now we’re locked in for a South Pole expedition next year.
We are very happy to report that keeping the communications rolling was a mission we carried out perfectly for this trip and the high profile team we worked with.
We are pleased to have done such an extreme test of our gear, especially the Yellowbricks, in the harshest conditions, and we are proud to offer these very same Yellowbrick trackers to our Australian customers.
Reaching the North Pole isn’t as easy as we had hoped.
A strong southern current is pushing the ice while we sleep, so each morning we are waking up further from our target than the day before.
Then the are the pressure ridges and water streams that make it impossible to ski in a straight line.
But the good news is the Yellowbrick V3 MkII is performing well so our exact position is being updated every hour.
Our fingers may be freezing, but we know we are safe as we start retracing our steps northward once again.
These conditions are harsh on equipment, and we’ve had quite a bit of kit fail – but the Yellowbricks have never skipped a beat, they’re as tough gear gets.
The Yellowbrick V3 MkII is available in Australia through our shop. We are excited to present the Yellowbrick V3 MkII to the Australian market, and offer a fully professional service with reliable product delivery, support and training from our expert technical team and quality after-sales service.
The Yellowbrick V3 MkII tracker is a rugged and fully self-contained battery operated tracker which works anywhere on Earth.

Yellowbrick V3 MkII
The tracker will wake up every so often (e.g. every 15 minutes), obtain a position using the GPS satellite network, and then transmit that position back to Yellowbrick HQ using the Iridium satellite network in seconds. The message is relayed to us from Iridium, and then we visualize the positions on an easy-to-use web-based viewer.

The Yellowbrick V3 MkII also allows short messages (like SMS, social media updates and short emails) to be sent using a paired Bluetooth device (such as a smartphone) and the Yellowbrick app. This allows for full two-way communication wherever you are, even when out of mobile network range.
Iridium is the only satellite network that allows transmission of information from any point on Earth – other networks have no coverage in the polar regions, and have intermittent or no coverage in other marine and land areas.
Iridium has 66 satellites in orbit around the Earth, allowing coverage anywhere on Earth 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No other satellite network has truly global coverage. Messages sent via Iridium take just seconds to reach Yellowbrick HQ.
Depending how often the Yellowbrick V3 MkII is set to transmit, they can last for up to a year on their internal battery.
